Beware of Scams….
If you ever receive an email, text or other communication from a person trying to pass themselves off as Fr. Gerald, Fr. Basil or any other person on staff at the parish and they are asking you to respond back and give them money or gifts cards you should disregard this communication….as a rule, never respond to suspicious emails or texts. If an email, text or other communication seems suspicious or questionable, you can always call the parish to verify.
These types of scams are called Phishing. Phishing uses disguised email or text where the attackers masquerade as a trusted entity of some kind, often a real or plausibly real person, or a company the victim might do business with to lower their targets’ defenses and make them more likely to become victims. It is one of the oldest types of cyberattacks, dating back to the 1990s, and it’s still one of the most widespread and pernicious, with phishing messages and techniques becoming increasingly sophisticated.

Please know that these scammers are not getting any information from the Parish or any of the software we use. We do not give out parishioner’s personal information to anyone. Scammers are gleaning information from public records and then “Phishing” for people to get “caught” in their scam.
God Bless & Be Safe!
