Vocations Night

Sunday, November 11 the Junior High and High School youth from our parishes gathered for a special evening of prayer for an increase of vocations in the church. We started out with some chili as everyone arrived. We were joined by Fr. Peter Wigton, pastor of St. Mary’s in Charlevoix, and the Alma Mercy Sisters. The guys went with Fr. Peter for a short video and to hear Fr. Peter’s vocation story of why he chose to become a priest. The gals stayed with the sisters to hear from each one of them their own stories and to ask questions like: “What does a sister do all day?” and “How do you hear the voice of Jesus calling you?”
After our discussion, we all went into the church for a half an hour of adoration, prayer, praise, and confessions. Where each one of us had an opportunity to pray for each other asking God to call up more vocations in the Church. After prayer, we made our way into the gym for some pretty intense volleyball. Everyone got to witness first hand Fr. Peter’s intense spikes – impossible to defend.
Thanks to Fr. Peter, Sr. Mary Andrea and all the sisters for making the trek in the snow to witness to our youth the joy and beauty of living a life for Christ.
