20th Anniversary of 9/11

9AM at Holy Family of East Tawas

Tomorrow, as a nation, we will mark the 20th Anniversary of 9/11. It is a day that is scared into my memory. This type of  horror on our American soil was the largest attack since Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. For my generation, the millennials, we had lived for the most part in peace in our upbringing, and the world changed in a matter of seconds as we felt the tragic loss of life and security.

I ask that you join me though the offering the Holy Mass for those who lost their lives, and also in grateful thanksgiving to those who served in helping in the response to the needs in New York, Washington, Pennsylvania, and the country at large. If you cannot make it, I understand, but I ask you to pause sometime thought the day and offer a prayer from your heart for the victims and their families.

That awful day we saw the worst of humanity, yet at the same time we saw the strength and vigor of humanity helping others in this extreme moment of the cross. The question I remember asking myself was, “God are you here?”

Twenty years later I know that he was there. He helped us though our struggle, though the difficulty, though the horror of this massive cross.  He gave many strength in that day and the aftermath as well. I would like to share this video with you about a fireman on 9/11 who becomes a priest.
