Holy Family Church Three Major Projects
Dear Holy Family Parishioners,
It is that time of year when the weather is finally nice enough to get outdoors and begin working on projects that went undone throughout the winter. Here at the parish there are three major projects that we would like to tackle this summer. First, the baptismal font needs some major repairs. The pump and piping are leaking. That is why the font has been sitting empty. The cost of a new pump and repairs will run about $2,000. But considering a new font costs over $30k, fixing what we have is the way to go. The second project is something Fr. Tyler and Fr. Charlie have been working on regarding our signage. We do not have nice large, visible signs marking our campus. We’re investigating the possibility of putting signs at the corner of Lincoln & Wilkinson and Washington & Ogemaw. We estimate that this project will cost $5,000-$8,000. The advantage of some proper signs for our campus will help people know that our beautiful parish is here ready to welcome them. The final project that is sorely needed is a new roof for the school and social hall. The original asphalt roof is quite old and has begun leaking especially during the spring melt. We had several bids, but the lowest bid came in around $52,000 for a 20 year Duralast rubberized roof. Maintaining our buildings is good stewardship and insures that the future generations have these beautiful resources for spreading the faith for many years to come. All of these projects plus the final $20,000 for our Catholic Service Appeal, I know, is quite a lot of money. Having met with the finance council, we decided the best thing to do was to be transparent with all of you and ask for your support. In your pews are building fund envelopes which can be used in the regular collection baskets to earmark funds for these important projects. Together we can ensure we have well maintained facilities well into the future.
